News from the Elders: May '22 Recap

PURPOSEFUL PRAYER TIME ON NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
One of our core values at RCC is “Dependent Prayer.”  We believe that prayer is essential to being and making disciples and we desire to be a church that depends on the Holy Spirit through prayer.  Because of our commitment to this core value, RCC joined millions of people across our country to participate in the National Day of Prayer on May 5.  A room on our campus was designated for prayer and people came throughout the day to exercise their right and privilege to pray.  Five prayer stations were set up and people were directed through a time of thanksgiving/praise, personal confession, praying for the issues impacting our country, our world, families, marriages, and our children, and praying for our church to be a lighthouse for Christ in these uncertain and difficult times.  We also had a special prayer focus for the people of Ukraine.  Please join us in continuing to pray for these vital areas of emphasis on an ongoing basis.

REJOICING IN A SPECIAL MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION
On Sunday, May 8, we committed the day at RCC to honoring and appreciating mothers.  Senior Pastor Matt Vorhees honored mothers through his message from 1 Peter 2 entitled, “Missional Living.”  Four families participated in the Parent Dedication ceremony, where parents committed to raising their children to know Jesus and to follow the principles and truths in the Bible.  Another special part of the day was the opportunity to take family photos after each of the morning services.
 
HONORING “THE FALLEN” ON MEMORIAL DAY
During our services on May 29, we set aside a special time to honor families and friends who have lost loved ones in defending our country.  Memorial Day is a time when we remember, honor, and appreciate the men and women who have sacrificed their lives in order to protect and preserve the freedoms and privileges we have in the United States of America.
 
THANKFUL FOR NEWCOMERS AT RCC
On May 1, some of our Pastoral Staff hosted a Newcomer’s Lunch.  The gathering is designed for those who have just started attending RCC in the past few months.  Over 40 adults and children attended the lunch and heard about who we are at RCC, where we believe the Lord is leading our church in the future, and how to get connected in our church body.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
