CELEBRATING FATHER’S DAY AT RCC

We honored fathers at RCC on June 19 by offering them an array of BBQ meat and fellowship on the patio after each of our morning services.  The smell of BBQ permeated the campus for the entire morning.  Senior Pastor Matt Vorhees challenged and encouraged men with a message from 1 Peter 5 entitled, “A Word to Men.”  Matt used this passage that instructs Church leaders on how to shepherd the family of God to apply to men leading their own families.  In addition to the Father’s Day focus, we also celebrated four of our people publicly professing their faith in Jesus through baptism.

REJOICING IN PIER 56 SUMMER CAMP

Pier 56 (our 5th and 6th grade ministry) sent over 30 kids to Hartland Christian Camp on the weekend before the Fourth of July celebration.  The theme of the camp was “The Just Shall Live by Faith”.  The key verse for the camp was Romans 1:16-17, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.  For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, ‘The righteous shall live by faith.’”  Several students made recommitments to their walk with Jesus and the camp was a great bonding time for the group.

PRAISING THE LORD FOR HIGH SCHOOL/JUNIOR HIGH SUMMER CAMP

Over 100 students and leaders attended the combined High School/Junior High summer camp held in Santa Cruz from June 29 – July 3.  The theme for the camp was “Authentic.”  The Bible teaching centered around Psalm 103 and emphasized how to be authentic in their relationship with God, those around them, and themselves.  The culmination of the camp for the students came on the final night as High School Pastor Bill Wills challenged them, “When we see God and ourselves clearly, we are able to extend that perspective to others and invite them to experience the freedom of following Jesus – freedom that enables us to stop hiding and live authentically unfiltered.”  Several students recommitted to live a live of faith and authenticity.

THANKFUL FOR WORSHIP NIGHT

On June 24, several of our High School students and Young Adults led our congregation in a special night of Worship.  These young people, known as “Arise”, practiced together with older mentors for several weeks prior to the service.  We are thankful to Arise for leading us in a night of meaningful worship and praise offered to our Lord.

EXCITED ABOUT THE SUMMER PREACHING SERIES

Beginning on June 26, Pastor Matt kicked off a Summer preaching series entitled, “Seven”.  For the seven weeks, we will study the letters written to seven churches in Revelation chapters 2 and 3.  Mark your calendars and invite family and friends to join us for this very timely and relevant series in which we examine how Jesus challenged, warned, and encouraged churches in that day and for all generations to come through the Apostle John’s writings in Revelation.

“Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it.  For the time is near.”
