A Word to the Wealthy
Everyday our lives are impacted by this world’s monetary system. On the most basic levels, we must have food, water and shelter. Most of us obtain these essentials through exchange of our time for money. Beyond the basics, money can provide conveniences such as: transportation, nice clothes, a comfortable home, etc. Yet, in the final verses of 1 Timothy, the apostle Paul has some sobering instruction regarding the management of wealth. While the median household income in America is around $42,000, two-thirds of the world’s population lives in poverty. While the average American family may not be rich by America’s standards, it is compared to the majority of the world. Let’s examine Paul’s parting words in this letter to Timothy regarding our attitudes and management of our money and possessions.
