As a Church, we at RiverLakes are committed to participating in the fulfillment of the "Great Commission" (Matt. 28:18-20). We understand this to mean the discipling of people in every culture through persuading them to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and gathering them into congregations where they can learn to obey all that Jesus has commanded. This we do while not neglecting to show Christian love through the meeting of other human needs.

For the past two years Melanie has coordinated ongoing education to Congolese believers who work to translate the Bible into their mother tongues. Her service with Wycliffe began in 2002 as a teacher to missionary children in Nairobi, Kenya. In January, 2014 Melanie’s work load will increase as she helps to conduct an in-depth survey among churches in Kenya to determine how successfully Wycliffe materials are being used in local vernaculars. The findings of this research will be used to develop a tailored plan for each community among their projects to improve Bible translations and other written material used by churches.

With backgrounds in missions and counseling, the Rays are equipped to care for others in need of renewal. The Rays served as career missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators for 27 years. TBTR operates as a non-profit ministry and depends upon private funding.
