Singleness

Posted By Ken Alvis, Pastor of Community Groups & Assimilation On Monday, July 30, 2012

Fact: Since 2006 the largest majority of adults in the United States are singles. Surprised? There are currently over 100 million unmarried people over the age of 18 in the U.S. In addition, the most common household type in the U.S. is people living alone – currently over 27 million.

Single adults live vibrant and busy lives. And as we have learned, God has a purpose for everyone’s life, whether married or single. The Bible breaks down the three different callings for singles: those single by creation, those single by choice and those single by circumstance. If you are single in this period of your life, whether temporary or long-term, use this time wisely. How? Use your singleness for service to God. Look, we all have three options on how we will spend our life:

1. You can waste your life on things that have no priority. 2. You can spend your life on things that are your priority.  3. You can invest your life on things that are God’s priority.

Option #3 will last all the way into eternity. May we all, single or married, embrace what Jesus said in Mark 8:35 “Only those who give away their lives for My sake and for the sake of the Good News will ever really know what it means to really live.” In this stage of your life single adults – live for Christ!
