CELEBRATING GOD’S PROVISION AT THE ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING

We want to thank all of you who joined us for our annual Congregational Meeting on September 15, 2019. The meeting began with a time of corporate prayer followed by a celebration of God’s provision this past year and a presentation of the vision and corresponding budget plan for FY 2019-20 By an overwhelming majority, the FY 2019-20 budget was approved and two Elder candidates, Darrin Singleton and Ken Harlander, were accepted. We are looking forward to a fruitful and productive year as we faithfully serve the Lord for His glory and kingdom purposes.

ENCOURAGING PARTICIPATION IN PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH

October is Pastor Appreciation month and it’s been a RiverLakes tradition for years to recognize and thank our Pastoral Staff for how well they serve and shepherd our church family. We encourage you to take a moment during the month of October to express your appreciation for these faithful servants (see our website for a list of our Pastoral Staff)

PRAISING THE LORD FOR THE “SING” FALL KICKOFF SERMON SERIES

On September 8, we kicked off our Fall Ministry season with a four-week sermon series entitled, “Sing.” The series was designed to examine what the Word of God says about the unique gift of song and music that is an ordained and important part of our life as a follower of Christ.  Over the four weeks, we examined what Scripture says about the “What, Why, Where and How” of singing and worship that we offer to our great God. In conjunction with the sermon series, our RiverLakes Worship Team commenced the process of releasing five new songs they have written and recorded. The best way you can support the music of our Worship Team is by following them on Spotify and adding the newly released songs to your playlist.

REJOICING IN THE IMPACT OF SUMMER SHORT-TERM MISSION TRIPS

Seven of our RCC people recently participated in Summer Short-Term Mission trips. At a Mission Debrief Meeting on September 29 they reported back how the Lord worked in and through them as they humbly and enthusiastically served on their trips this summer. Jarren Whitmore served with Teen Missions International for two months during the summer in Zambia, Africa. Gilbert and Margit Wong participated in an evangelistic summer trip with E3 in Kenya, Africa. Cheryl Levey, Linda Sheffield, Donna Dungan and Janice Witcher served for two weeks with the International School Project in Ecuador. We want to thank each of these people for making themselves available to serve our Lord on the mission field and for sharing their experiences at our recent debrief meeting.

 WELCOME NEW PEOPLE TO RCC

On September 22 the Pastoral Staff and Elders hosted a Newcomers Lunch. The gathering is designed for those who have recently started attending RCC. The 12 new attendees heard the vision for the future, how we are structured and operate as a church, what we believe, how to get involved and connected at RCC and spent time personally meeting and getting to know our Pastoral Staff and Elder representatives.

BLESSED TO HAVE THE FUN SPORTS FALL PROGRAM ON OUR CAMPUS

FUN (Faith, Unity, Nurture) Sports is a Christ-centered Youth Sports Ministry that we support and promote at RCC. The Fall Soccer Season Program started on September 14 and will run through October 19. Each week hundreds of children and their families and friends gather on our South Grass field to play soccer, be exposed to Good News of Jesus, learn about teamwork and friendships and have fun. If you are looking for a place to serve in a fun environment, contact John Bagala at the church office.
