Press On

We all have faced difficulties, struggles, hard tasks and painful experiences in this life. Some of you may be going through one of these periods right now, or the storm clouds of life may be gathering on the horizon. The Apostle Paul faced more difficulties, hardships and pain than most of us can imagine. Paul was able to persevere in the face of life's struggles by focusing on the goal of knowing Christ better and conforming his life to Christ's on a daily basis.
Paul says in Philippians 3:13-14, "Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

Perseverance and persistence are the keys to dealing with life's struggles and pain. President Calvin Coolidge once said, "Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence - not talent (there is nothing more common in this world than unsuccessful individuals with talent), not genius (unrewarded genius is almost a proverb), not education (the world is full of educated derelicts) - perseverance, persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."

If life seems uncertain and out of control, if there is a hard task ahead or if you are going through a painful experience - hang in there, keep at it and don't give up. Keep your eyes on Jesus and press on to what lies ahead, knowing that He will never leave nor forsake you and one day you will be in His presence and glory forever.
